Frequently asked questions (FAQ’s)
Please see a selection of the most common questions below. If there is a question that is not answered here please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Does Debt Management effect my credit rating?
A Debt Management Plan operates by reducing your monthly payments to your creditors. By doing this you are breaking the agreement you signed when the credit was taking out. You will be in default of your agreement so your credit rating will be affected. However, if you have been refused credit or have missed payments your credit rating will already be affected.
Are there charges for this service?
We do charge for this service as this is essential to cover our costs incurred by offering these services however our charges are currently one of the lowest in the fee charging sector.
How long will my Debt Management plan take?
The timescale for your Debt Management Plan will depend upon how much you owe and how much you can afford to repay on a weekly or monthly basis. It will also depend upon the outcome of our on-going negotiations for example if we are able to negotiate the freezing of any interest and charges on your credit commitments.
Will you deal with all my debts?
No. We will only deal with your unsecured credit commitments. If you have any secured debts you will need to maintain payments on these due to the more serious implications of defaulting on these agreements. When we assess your circumstances we will make suitable allowances for you to maintain these payments.
If I want to cancel my Debt Management Programme will I be charged?
No you will not be asked to enter into any formal contract we are here to give you the service for as long as you need the help. If your situation improves and you no longer need our assistance all we ask is two weeks notice in writing.
Once you have made your first payment we will give you a 7 working day cooling off period where-by if you change your mind during this period you will be entitled to a full refund of any monies paid.
Does it matter if I am a homeowner, tenant or if I am unemployed?
No. Debt Management Programmes are tailor made to meet your individual circumstances. Whether you're a homeowner, tenant, unemployed or on benefits, we can find a solution for you.
What if my circumstances change?
You would simply need to contact us. We are aware peoples circumstances can change through no fault of their own. We can re-assess your situation at any time.
